I finally blocked Facebook and Twitter. What finally pushed me over the edge was Exvangelicals making definitive theological statements about every single political thing. Far too tempting to respond! Internet arguments are not a place I want to go.

@ReaderJohn regardless, I applaud the resolve to avoid the arguments. Currently doing my best to stay off FB until they actually delete my account…

@joshuapsteele I never thought of it in political terms, even though one precipitant was a nephew who turned into a dishonest Trump troll (and remains so, I am reliably informed by other family who are still on Facebook). It was just bad and trollish behavior of whatever sort that seemed to be encouraged, plus intrusive content unrelated to keeping up with family and friends.

@ReaderJohn Both. Folk who suddenly have a deep understanding of the ordo amoris. Folk who suddenly know exactly what Jesus thought about this or that, but were silent for the last four years. Not a one who wants to submit to tradition.

@joshuapsteele Left, right, all around. Just a lot of “authoritative” theology from folk.

@joshuapsteele I’d convinced myself I needed it for ministry. — Given the temptations, I think it’s best for the witness of the Church if my thoughts and comments stay in the pulpit and at the pub.
