I’m not one to delve into politics or to ever sign these social media open letters, but I feel I must say at least a little something about the Middle Tennessee Christians for Justice in Palestine. This letter misuses scripture and allows populist excitement around a trendy cause to overshadow real evil. Children and babies are presently held hostage. Women and young girls were raped. Families were brutally murdered in their homes. Rockets are launched from both sides of the border. — I, too, call for peace. With my Lord, I suffer with the suffering. I weep with the weeping. But, I will not allow popularity or virtue signaling to overshadow the face of true evil. — Sin abounds. Humanity is fallen and totally depraved. Jews should repent and believe in Jesus, their Messiah. Muslims should repent and follow Jesus who is God the Son. The people of Israel have done wrong to many Palestinians. I, too, want peace. But, pretending that there is any correlation between Hamas-controlled Gaza and the children of Abraham under Egyptian enslavement is just bad theology and a poor witness of God’s love for all people.
